My personal opinions may, at times, be a bit out there; but I don't aim to please
Please be warned (and make sure you read this, it's why I made it RED), This post is completely filled with rant. Nothing more than plain old RANT. If you are ready to accept my opinion, then please proceed to reading...
To start of this blog post of mine, I'm going to say that I am not biased to my favorite genre of music (Okay, maybe a little bit?).
So, I stayed home from school today, not because I want to (I would much rather go to school and spend a last day with my class mates than be stuck in a shady old apartment alone) but because tomorrow is our graduation day. And based on our school's belief's; boys and girls together in a room will cause an increase in population due to teenage pregnancy. (No really, I think they have it embedded in their minds that girls get pregnant just by sitting in the same room as a guy, but whatever)
So today I stayed at home, browsing through the normal sites I visit whenever I don't have anything else to do...Dramasub, Lookbook, Deviantart and a few others I don't have time to mention.
And in the middle of my cringing and head-scratching (due to the extremely slow network connection), my phone rings to 'My Girl' by none other than Big Bang's Tae Yang. Of course I answer it, and greet my friend happily on the other line. What I do not know is that the world has come up with something new to taunt my fellow Asian friend and I...
A new boy band...DAN DAN DAAAAAAAN!
Okay, so no surprise there, it's not like Korea isn't reproducing band after band after band. And of course, that already irritates me. And having been a Kpop lover for over four years now, I'm expected to 'love' and 'swoon' over every band that marches their asses into Kpop. But no, let me just clarify that this 'new band' is not produced by any of the Kpop entertainment companies...no, it's from another country...
A new Philippine boy band has decided to make its way through the industry, dancing (and singing?!) to the beat and tune of 'Sorry, Sorry' of Super Junior!!!!
THERE! I'VE SAID IT! Not only does the tune sound EXACTLY like the Asian-wide famous song, but it even has the whole 'voice editing' you hear from Korean music (yes, the robotica sounding one) and whomever thinks otherwise is simply deaf beyond comprehension.
What else is that their dancing is out of sync, the Filipino words don't mix in with the English well (I'm not saying that Super Junior is any better at speaking English) and (even with my impaired vision) I can see that their so called 'album cover' is exactly the same as the Sorry, Sorry Repackaged Album.
I've heard many copy-cat versions to a lot of songs like the Wonder Girls' Nobody copycat from that one country I don't recall (Indonesia was it? Or Thailand?) and even the whole 'Ke$ha isn't original' bullshit led out by Soshis because of the 'Run Devil Run' single. But nothing can beat this.
Not only are they getting support from people, but they are actually getting credit for something they didn't even start.
If they want to become famous, then at least take time to make their own song, get original lyrics and dance steps and not something that sounds like a cover of something else already in existence.
I really wanted to post this onto my Music blog, but it's not yet complete and I don't want to open it during a sensitive time in my academic year.
Now, before you judge me, here's something for you to ponder over:
Now don't you dare argue with me that there is a difference because of the spaces in between the members of 'XLR8'.
Their album friggin reminds me of a Cell Phone advertisement that would have been famous in Korea!
And of course, the awaited song and video:
Super Junior - Sorry Sorry:
err... the other one:
So let's just say that that's all I need to convince you. And if you're still not? Well... I've got nothing to say against it.
Kpop FTW!
